Saturday, December 7th, 2024, was a landmark evening at Mackey Twins Art Gallery. Nearly 200 guests packed the house for an unforgettable book signing and conversation with pioneer journalist Melba Tolliver, celebrating the release of her memoir, Accidental Anchorwoman. The night was a vibrant celebration of storytelling, inspiration, and community.

The highlight of the evening was a lively and engaging discussion between Melba and historian and grandson of Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture founder Arturo Schomburg, Dean Schomburg. Dean, a thoughtful and gracious interlocutor, guided the conversation with a perfect balance. She captivated the audience with her story of breaking into television journalism, climbing the ranks at WABC-TV in New York City, and ultimately becoming the first Black woman to anchor a network news program.
